REGULATION

UAE early ozone rule on CFCs and halons

Federal Environment Agency Resolution No. 13 of 1999

Applies toUAE
TypeRegulation
Issued13 Jun 1999
Issued byFederal Environment Agency (UAE)

What it is and does

This was the UAE's first rule on the circulation of ozone-depleting substances. It covered CFC-11, CFC-12, CFC-113, CFC-114, CFC-115, the blends R-500 and R-502, and halons 1211 and 1301. The UAE reports that it fully banned CFCs and halons by the 2010 deadline. For technicians this is mainly history: R-12 and R-502 must not be sold or reused except through recovery.

Who it affects

Historical; anyone still finding R-12 or R-502 in old equipment
